Poop. And today's entry is a poop timeline of sorts:

YEARS 0-1: It is innocuous tiny -- even cute at times -- and occasionally a blowout mess, but nothing we can't handle.

YEARS 2-3: It smells just like grown-up stuff, only smushed against that sweet bum. Wipes, wipes abound.

YEAR 3: Somehow, magically, it makes it into the potty. If even a portion of it is there, we are elated.

YEAR 4: It is celebrated, cheered, awed and admired. All the shapes, the volume, the colors demand the observation of at least two people.

YEAR 5: No trace of it. You know it happened but it isn't the highlight of the day. Except now we focus on complete cleanliness and the rhyming song of Mom's childhood is now part of theirs:

if you sprinkle when you tinkle,
be a sweetie, and wipe the seatie!

Madeline (nearly 6!) still occasionaly calls me to have a look at her poop. LOL Oh my, how life sometimes revolves around poop!
Now, to teach the boys to clean up after themselves...ah, the joy of boys being able to stand up to pee! :P

OMGosh, so funny you should post this! Topic of conversation tonight at dinner, started by my lovely 5yo son, was poop. I quickly nixed it and told him we could discuss AFTER dinner! LOL

Luke likes to have an audience (still) when he "goes", think it's the equivalent of reading on the toilet, he like to call me or his dad into the bathroom and start an indepth discussion about what he did today whilst he is "going"..... pleasant!!
