Like it or Leave it, Ike's heading our way

Hi blog fans. We are under instructions from our fine county judge, my friend Adrienne's dad, Ed Emmett to "shelter in place". We are not in the areas being asked to evacuate; in fact, they'd rather we stayed off the roads.

Unfortunately or fortunately, tomorrow is also our departure date for the "big kids" trip to London. The bags are packed, the airplane clothes are laid out. The flight is originating here, and I'm guessing the airlines would love to get all their tin the heck outa Houston so we're likely to take off. Getting to the airport is the most threatening thing at this juncture.

As for sweet lil Ev and my very capable parents, they are holding down the fort. Of course, if they are told to evacuate, they aren't going to put on water gaiters and stand in the Bayou - they will leave in our trusty rusty ol' rover. They will take the high road to one of the many sweet relatives who have called us to please come viztin, which we did during Rita and didn't for Gustav.

So that's it for now.
