Visitors both uninvited and welcome

Saturday I came home from the hospital. Sunday, though heavily medicated to stave off the pain, I attended church just long enough to be with my family to light the Advent candle. Monday morning when I awoke, I saw a funny looking makeup brush on top of my perfume bottles and thought, gee that brush looks a lot like a little bat. So I thought I was just using my imagination, and I decided to turn on the light. Sure enough, it was! I woke up my mom, who was still visiting and helping us with the kids tremendously. What a way to wake her up -- "Mommy, hi, sorry to wake you up but there is a bat in my bathroom and I'm kinda freaking out" So we went back and I showed it to her. Was it dead? Pretending to be dead?

An ear twitched. Oh, okay, scared or defensive, but definitely alive. We turned on the tv hoping it would remain frozen in fear and closed off the bathroom to the rest of the house. Later, I ventured back in there and oh no! it was gone. I decided to get some sweaters so we could do our yard decorations; then I wanted to brush my teeth. Just as I was about to turn on the water -- aaaakkk there's the bat in the bottom of my sink. Glad I didn't turn the water on him/her and have it flying at my face. So I left. The guy from a company called "Trapper John" came and captured it within the hour. Phew.

Yesterday, Tuesday, was a day I'd been looking forward to for some time. We had a full house of female relatives for the annual Ladies' Tea at the Coronado Club. It was wonderful, and it really took my mind off my pain. I will post pics when they are sent to me (I was not the photog this week...didn't pick up my camera since everyone else had theirs)

Unfortunately, now everyone has departed. I am a little blue. The kids are too. They got in the car from school and said, "Mo-ooommm, where are our guests?" Sadly, I said, they are gone.

My kidney stone pain has migrated to the bladder area -- no longer the unimaginable pain in the kidney area. However, it is very irritating and requires more medicating than I would prefer. Also I have a terrible cold. It is making me very hoarse. Paige asked me at lunch today, "Mommy? Did you lose your tune? The tune in your throat?" :) Yep.

But, the baby is fine, and we just got a good call from the geneticist that we are in the clear with no Downs Syndrome or Trisomy 13/18. And both twins are now clear of the conjunctivitis that plagued them last week.

We were sad to leave, too. A great time was had by all! The house looked beautiful and you were a great hostess - that pre-tea pasta luncheon was superb!
