Overheard at lunch

Today we were out running errands in the freezing rain and decided to stop in Neiman Marcus for lunch. The kids love the monkey bread and strawberry butter, and I love how bright and cheery the cafe is and how much it reminds me of special lunches at Neimans with my great aunt Sudie.

With happy, buttery lips, they started singing, "The farmer in the jail, the farmer in the jail, ho ho the barrio, the farmer in the jail" I swear that is what they thought their toy was saying. Oh my! What a nursery song.

Yesterday in the car, on the way home from my birthday brunch at Hugo's -- yum!-- they were talking A LOT about the baby.

"Mommy," Paige said, "The baby can go to Burger King with Nana." [my mom, for those who don't know, is a construction and property manager for a company that owns a franchise of Burger King restaurants, among other restaurants]

"Yes, that's a good idea, Paige."

"But, Mommy? What does Grandad do?" Graham asked.

"He's retired." I said.

"But Nana works, because she's not tired, right Mommy?"

PAULA! No of course it isn't actual monkey bread, it's just called that. It's just a brioche.

HA HA, that is so funny PK! Yes, Nana doesn't nap while "watching" golf so I guess she isn't too tired to work! Tee hee.
