After the Hurricane Rita evacuation, I really haven't been willing to watch as much Dora the Explorer. We watched Dora after Dora -- and she really did a great job of entertaining the kids while I maneuvered this great state's highways and country roads. But there is only so much an adult can take of any given kids' show. We have tried to integrate two additional shows: Backyardigans and Little Bear.
Paige can see through pretty much anything we do, it would seem. This morning she sat down at the nic nic table and requested a pear (thanks Nana and Grandad!) and Dora. Well, after Dora, I usually choose to watch either no more tv or Little Bear. It is a soothing, sweet story about a young bear and his animal pals. There is classical music and he has a good home life with his mom and dad. Here is how the conversation went when I picked up the remote control.
"Dora's all over." sighed Paige.
"Yes."
"Mommy likes the Lillul Bear." Paige said softly.
"That's true."
"Mommy likes the Lillul Bear and Daddy likes Backyar'gins."
"Oh, really?"
"Uh huh. Paigie likes the Dora. Grahamie likes the Dora." Then with a little extra emphasis and her arms tucked like chicken wings, hands on her chest, she cocked her head to the side and said, "Mommy, I the like the Dora."
Maybe that extra "the" is the key, her little mind seemed to hypothesize. I could see her eyeballing me to see if it worked.
She's in there peacefully watching Little Bear as I type. Graham is still asleep.

Oh Steph - she's a smart one! But cute, nonetheless! :)
That is so cute Steph, I love how they put the emphasis on the wrong word right now, my kids do that all the time.
And personally I agree with Paige, I prefer Dora over little Bear, little bear drives me up the wall...lol.
IT DIDN'T WORK!
How could you not give in to that?
Aww, poor Paigie
Sigh.... bless her little cotton socks! Luke has it off to a very fine art as well and it works every time with me unfortunately usually with that darn purple creature who calls himself Barney.
Too funny, they never cease to amaze me with how brillant they are. I too prefer Little Bear over Dora. Fortunately, Carter and Cole agree right now. We also like Franklin and Max and Ruby around here.
Funny,Steph! I like little Bear, too. There's only so much,"Da-Da-Da-Da Dora......." I can handle!=)
Love-Bevie-
Though,I love the way her little mind is thinking! Brillant child,if I may say so...
What is it with these 2 yr olds and the Dora rut? I can entice Anna with Charlie Brown Christmas, or Backyar'gins, but Colin always votes the party line: "I wan' watch DORA!"
Aww, that is very cute! Little Bear wins over Dora around here and I'm fine with that.
