It's time to blog one of those classic conversations that occur from time to time. As background, tonight I made a special effort to start dinner on time, or even early, so that we had time for a long leisurely bubble bath. So often the day is packed with fun and activities, and we are left with no choice but a "quickie shower" as it is called around here. Not so tonight. Despite the crowd, and I do mean party quorum of children, in our driveway at 5:30, I gave a 5 minute warning and everyone had tidied up and was trapsing home a few sweaty, basketball-packed minutes later. We ate quesadillas, cherry tomatoes, proscuitto, manchego and parrano, and headed upstairs. As we they are peeling off their clothes the topic was raised.
"Mommy, I don't know why my friends want to pull my pants down and check out my underwear." Graham says.
"What are you talking about buddy. Which friends?"
"I don't know. Some people I know and some I don't. They want to check out my bunsers." giggle and blush.
"Well, my friends want to see my bum bum so . . .[far too big girl gesturing here of a shrug and one side of her mouth smirked up] so I just let them."
"Well, okay, why are they doing this?" I ask without too much trepidation.
"Everyone's bum is a little different Mommy." Graham says, now the giggles are bubbling up.
"Oh, okay, so you guys are just seeing how everyone's bodies are a little different? That isn't too surprising, though, since nobody's faces are the same, or.."
"Yeah, or bodies. Everyone's is a little special, huh, Mommy?" Paige says like she's on the 'adult team' of this conversation.
"okay, well, whatever, you guys, but that's no big deal."
"Yeah, Mommy, like some boys pieces have that little mushroom thing and some, well, just [again, adult head shaking here eyes askance and a pause] don't." Paige says.
"Yes, I love you Paige." Was all I could muster through my smile without cracking up.
TOO MUCH!!!!!!!

Oh my.
Work on it as much as I can but, no one wants to see my bum bum.
Except those that I don't want to see it!
Tell the little ones that I see too many bum bums at my job( and they're mostly old bum bums) and that's no fun fun!
The twins will be 5 June 13th? Is that correct?
Happy Earth Day!

Oh, that's too good. The other day the boys were playing with squirt guns, and one yelled that it was raining. I started the "rain rain go away" song and they finished with "if you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear."
Lovely the things they pick up. And they informed me that they learned that one from a kid in Vacation Bible
School! Yikes!
That mushroom thing... lol

Yowzer!
Oh Steph, hilarious, the things we have to put up with .... Luke has taken to poking me in the bum lately when I bend over (not exactly pleasant when you are in the supermarket picking veggies).
