Bag o' Lemons

Today's title is a reference to an inside joke between Al and me. When we were playing golf in Cabo once (pre-k, you know, back when we had time for a four-hour jaunt) I was unsuccessful at chipping my ball out of a transitional area, from which I should have just taken a drop anyway. He was yelling at me from some distance down the arroyo, and all I could make out was "BAG O' LEMONS!" I didn't think that was very nice, offered up an expletive "Bag of lemons?!What? Well, xxx you and your xxxing bag of lemons!" and tried again. He came up with the golf cart and said, with sweet compassion, "Honey, I think you bagged your limit." THis is a hunting reference meaning, time to stop. Oh, that's what he was saying. So now whenever things go bad and bad again, I always think of that. Here's the recent rundown.

Chipped a tooth -- actually a veneer, just cooing at Evelyn yesterday and PLINK! I felt gritty pieces of porcelain in my mouth. uuuh.

Stood up from the couch and PWING my back is on the fritz. uuuhh...

Opened the car door and soundlessly Ev's snuggly fell right into a stream of grocery store parking lot blackish liquid. uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh...

Still, I am feeling good today. Hey, it wasn't my front tooth this time (in 2000, I had to take an "emergency" flight to Dallas to see my cosmetic dentist after a dinner spat between my dh and a friend's wife caused me to grit my teeth so hard I popped off a veneer!) And the snuggly is sloshing around in the awesome Miele machine. My back will just cause me to stop -- literally -- and smell the roses today. It is 70 degrees, low humidity and gorgeous out. Bye bye!

addendum: Here's one from the archives -- taken in May of 1993. Lord only knows how long I took getting my hair perfect before playing babies with Bevie. This picture is such a kick because now she is at the exact point I was (I was just graduating high school) and two of my children are near the age she was in the picture!

As I was reading the funny text, I saw that photo in my peripheral vision, thinking, "Must be an old pic of Paigie and Steph, but her hair looks like its from the early 90s..."

Bev looks so different physically but is dressed like a modern child, while you look the same but your fashion is quite dated... :-)
