Greetings from Nantucket

I'm on island. Not on the island or on an island. here they say "on island" and if you've ever seen a man (usually an older gent with over-tanned skin and bleached teeth) wearing pink pants -- they aren't pink -- they are Nantucket red. Yep, I'm getting an education here.

This island is a jigsaw puzzle of cobblestone, poorly marked streets, beaches of every variety to suit all your maritime needs from toddler-wading to surfing to yachting.
Great tall lilies and giant hydrangeas burst through white picket and black wrought-iron fences, while clumps of honeysuckle and wild berries cover the undulating dunes.
There really are sweet little stick and wire fences to preserve the dunes, laying down in submission to the prevailing wind in places.
The shops are quaint and old.
The parking is non-existent at lunch and dinner time.
The library, called the Atheneum, hosts a variety of free activities for kids.
The ice cream is homemade.
Dogs are everywhere and at least 3 in 5 are soft coated Wheaten Terriers.
The rest are newfies, other terriers, pugs, labs, goldens and other seaworthy breeds.
Even a few Australian Shepherds.
Children are given names like Molly, May, Ainsley, Grey, Lola, Lilly and Jack.
We wake at the crack of dawn, which comes early.
Early, I mean early, as in 5:20 a.m.

All in all, and we are loving our beach vacation. Just wish the Daddy person could be here more of the time, rather than back in Houston working.

We'll have so many pics to post if I can ever get this computer to work a little faster. Comcast on island is not stellar.

Sounds like an idyllic summer place, unlike blazing Texas.
