Just another busy day

Phew. What did we do today? Well, we started out going to our friends/neighbors school because I am attending a parenting class there on Wednesday mornings. It is great. Jenn gave me the books by the same authors, so when I heard there was a lecture series, I was very excited. The books are called "Parenting with Love and Logic" and here is the link for the one specifically for toddlers http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1930429002/qid=1129165199/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-3619672-6824941?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Unfortunately, because my friend is 33 weeks pregnant with a Whopper, Jr. who wants to arrive NOW, she couldn't attend. Instead, she spent today at the Women's Hospital, hooked up to fetal monitors.

While she was out, this afternoon, I hosted hers and some other neighborhood kids for playtime and cupcake decorating. It was, after all, one little girl's actual 4th birthday today. It was a huge success. All six kids got along very well. The four and six-year-old girls took the lead and directed the remaining four children -- all of them two-year-olds -- around. I was amused at how cleverly the toddlers feigned deafness at the older girls' demands. "When I blow the whistle, everybody in the pirate ship, okay Paigie?" one girl hollered. Mmm hmm. Paige did not comply. She was happy doing her own thing, and later climbed up the pirate ship to announce herself as, "Pirate Paigie Isa Turn the Wheel" That's a Dora the Explorer allusion, fyi. Amazingly, no one fought, no one whined and we all had fun.

We decorated the Whole Foods cupcakes (full of butter and sugar, but non-evil butter and sugar?!?!) with organic, gluten-free, dye-free sprinkles and freeze-dried organic strawberries! Go ahead, laugh at me, because I thought it was a little much. They still twirled around like they were possessed by the Sugar Devil after they ate them.

Daddy came home after the shower and we all climbed in bed to watch a little Tom & Jerry. Now, Paige not only says, "One more then nigh nigh" she quickly follows up that episode by saying, "One more BONUS, then nigh nigh" hee hee hee

One more Bonus? Where'd she get that?
I smiled at the thought of Paigie not allowing herself to be bossed around. Sounds like another little girl I knew...and it served her well!

I hope your class is good. You'll have to share your pearls of wisdom. I enjoyed the class I went to, although it got a bit didactic at times - really repetitive worksheets - blech. And the videos from the 80s with parents with crazy hairdos and glasses! Ha ha! Hard to believe my class was 4 yrs ago.
