Birthday Party

this is a picture from last week.

Last week we had friends over to celebrate a birthday, you might remember the previous post (here is where smart people are able to post a link to a prior post, imagine it!). The little girl's actual birthday was that day, and her PRINCESS TEA party was today. Only Paige was invited on the invitation, but the mom reassured me Graham should come. The birthday girl had already pulled me aside on the driveway and told me not to bring him. Oops! Well, since I had no sitter, he came along. But I had to wake both Paige and Graham up from their naps, and we still arrive 1/2 hr late. They were groggy and grumpy and not too into all the tulle and tea of the princess-themed party. Oh well. We really enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage ride around the neighborhood, though. They both walked around to the horses and belted out, "Thank you, horsies. Thanks for the ride!" They went to bed giddy and giggly tonight. We had a ticklefest on the floor, complete with blowing raspberries on eachother's tummies and making snarfy noises in eachother's ears. It was fun.

I actually said this today, "Do you want a spanking? Stop whining or you're going to get one" Yeah, that's not really the parenting style I'm going for...each day has it's moments, and sometimes I don't react the way I would prefer. That statement stopped the whining, but I'd rather keep my cool. Tomorrow starts fresh, I guess. I'll try harder.

Graham ate almost an entire candy necklace (he calls it "neck-a-less") with such reckless abandon. It was the highlight of his day.

SPANKING - must admit in moments of weakness I've threatened it, but never actually done it. Don't worry Steph, its something we all struggle with.

Oh yes, very difficult at times isn't it! I, like Jenn have never actually spanked but when it's all going a bit pear shaped and I'm at the end of my tether I have threatened it. I have however given him a little tiny smack on his hand or bum when he does something outrageous and potentially life threatening!!! I feel bad enough after that! That all to one side though Steph, looks like you had a great time and I love the blowing raspberries and snarfy noises, smiling as I'm typing at the thought X

Sounds like a fun day. I love that they thanked the horses!

Quite, quite normal,Mommy Steph. I was told once (years ago when my two were little terrors) that children actually liked the idea of a smack!!! I was worried that I was always a bit hasty in that department..not actually smacking them but losing my patience...he said it showed the kiddies that their parents were NORMAL..(work that one out):o)xx

Sounds like a day full of giggling and smiling children..(except for waking up from a nap early..that's NO fun!) And, what polite kiddos, even remembering to thank the horses for thier ride. =)

I love bedtime with P&G. They are always so snugglie and happy - helping you read the books they selected....filling in words that you left off(usually on purpose - to engage thier attention).

I can just picture the "tickle and snarfy" fest that went on. Very sweet!

Give the Cuties big hugs and kisses for me!
