This morning life threw us a curve ball. Paigie woke up with the inability to bear weight on her right leg. Now I am a skeptic AND really not that big a fan of modern western medical intervention, so it took several instances of her wincing and wailing for me to take this seriously. Of course, then I thought, geez this is just like when I WAS HER AGE and my dad made me stand on my broken leg...okay, okay, I'll call the dr. "NOooooooooooooo Doctor!" she says, but it's got to happen, so after a very difficult effort to get Graham and Paige dressed (battles galore and lots of whining from Sir Graham) we went.
Boy was Paige a pistol for Dr. Injac; she was mad. He ordered a bloodcount and xrays. Great. Now I got to pin her to the table. In her stark raving mad ranting state, I sang my little Paigie song (I love you, yes I do, you're my little Paigie Girl...) and said "Calm down Paige, they are taking your picture) so she says forcefully through her teeth, "Cheeeeese. I waaaant my paaaaaaaaaaaants"
The fun wasn't over, back in the other lab room, Graham was blissfully munching on a lollypop with the nurse. Paige got one too, but it didn't distract her from the blooddraw. They couldn't get a vein in her right arm, so she was pretty uncooperative when we had to switch and prep the left arm. By this point, I am so shattered from the jetlag, stress and physical effort it takes to restrain her, I am wavering as I sing, "Bah bah black sheep" Well, she's so mad I can't understand her, and I'm worried she's about to hyperventilate. "No that song" Oh, I see.
Back in the exam room. More waiting. Dr returns and says to Paige, "I'm not going to touch you. I just need to talk to your Mommy." and whips up the x-rays. There is a little fluid on her right hip. This might mean a viral infection. But he also points out that she is constipated. Now I remember Andrea telling me when we returned that neither of my kids pooped yesterday. Ugh. I feel guilty that we went through all that just to learn she needs to poop. Guilty. Frustrated. Frazzled. Tired.
I'm going to have to wait until I'm in a more peaceful state to write about the lovely trip. Right now it feels like a selfish thing I did. Both kids are now VERY cranky, and I realize that Graham is constipated too. Paige pooped at lunch, but he didn't. He is just whining and crying at everything.
It's a stressful day.

Oh my that's scary. Is she any better after pooping?
Oh gosh Steph I do feel for you, that would freak me out so much. When Luke gets "bunged up" I try to get him to eat as much fresh fruit (no bananas) as possible and to drink plenty of water, it usually works. I so hope that things improve for you and the little ones. Don't feel that you were being selfish, these things happen whether you are there or not.
POOP REPORT: Paige has pooped twice and Graham once, and they both napped well. So I think we are on the road to normalcy.
After her nap and her latest "movement" Paige said, "I made a big DUMP Mommy!" What? I don't use that phrase, so it cracked me up! Guess she heard that over the weekend. Also, she is now standing and walking around. Yeah!
Aww, that is scary! I hope they are both well rested and feeling better now.

Oh, so pleased Steph, doesn't it make you smile when they suddenly come out with words that you haven't got the foggiest where they came from!!
Well I have just GOT to ask you this,Steph....did your Dad REALLY make you stand on your broken leg????..super story though even if it was about 'pooping' :o) xx
