August in Houston, ugh

Thanks for all the good-feeling comments on my recent video posts. There are some thoughts rumbling around my head; none of them is a whole post-worthy amount, but here they are in no particular order:

What happened to the family-anticipated tv miniseries. Where is today's North and South?

I love Ellen DeGeneris. She is like the forever-younger version of my mom. If you've met my mom, or just look at this blog, you surely see the striking resemblance.

Evelyn now swims like crazy with her head underwater. She loves to emphasize this by announcing to everyone around the pool, "I swim UNDAHWAADDDAHH!" and she does it so repeatedly we have to force her to take breaks.

It will be hot in Houston for at least three more solid months. Nevertheless, today's paper had a section with Fall Harvesty Things, complete with crispy turning leaves and pumpkins. Seriously, it took me halfway into my 30s to realize why my expectations are so invariably shockingly wrong in Texas. Yes, we delude ourselves, and the malls and media take us there each and every year. It is still summer people. As in, sweating under the boobs (can we put that clinical strength stuff there?) HOT <--attribute that idea to my mom, she brought it up.

And that is why I'm not coming back to Texas until probably Thanksgiving!

Standing outside waiting for Patch to tinkle and the sweat is running down the insides of both legs.

Not pleasant to talk about but, you brought it up with the sweaty boobs!

I've lived in Texas 12 years, I still can not get used to having only two seasons. I'm hoping for cooler weather in mid October for my son's bday party...
