noone went to school today. Graham was up most of the night with coughs, high fever and moaning. I was curled at his side moving a wet washrag around his face for many hours. Hot tea with honey. Motrin. Cough suppressant. Stroking his head. Oh, the baby's crying, hang on Graham I'll be back. So went one night. Morning came and with one swimming pool sized coffee I was ready for the day. Paige got dressed for school, but her eyes told me she was fighting infection too. It wasn't all bad -- Nana and Grandad fortified us with lunch and the kids enjoyed a cartoon marathon. The nadir was Graham puking the entire contents of his stomach -- albeit benign with just Vitamin Water and blueberries in there -- all over our master bed. Oh well, that is why I love my Miele washer with it's SANITIZE cycle. I got many other loads of laundry done too, since playing outside and diverting mom's attention weren't an option today. Managed to bake cookies, produce home-cooked dinner and enjoy political conversation with hubby home from NY tonight too. All in a day's non-work.
Evelyn is 7 months today. I cannot believe 7 months. She is already so grown up. She jumped straight from infant to toddler, it seems. Going from dancing the worm to crawling across the room has happened in the past 2 weeks. She is a fan of downward dog (ancestry?) even as a nursing position (ugh). She already pulls up, has mastered the pincer technique for Cheerios, ogles all adult food despite her TOTAL lack of teeth, and prefers to stand on your hip rather than cling ala koala. Never able to embrace the bottle, she is quite content sipping from my cup of ice water these days and chomps on mushed up peas, carrots and all forms of bread. Her favorite food aside from the Cheerios, are Wheatines from Whole Foods. My favorite passtime is, admittedly, doing diaper forensics in the a.m. Most of all, I am stricken by her demeanor: she is even-keel, kind, easily-amused, and absolutely adores her big brother and sister.

Oh man, Steph. You and Al make some beautiful little people. Those pictures are heartbreaking -- makes me want another little soft bald baby. Now.
