Last night I hosted some friends dinner. Paige and Graham, home from school most of the week, wanted to help me when I was setting up earlier in the week, so I enlisted their elbow-grease skills in polishing some silver chargers. They actually enjoyed it; and the fruits of their labor -- seeing their faces in the shiny plates!
It was all ladies, and my intentions were to invite people I see often but, due to all our busy mommying days, never have gotten the "big picture" on who they are. The evening was filled with laughs and great stories, as they humored me by answering all the questions I had written. Each friend pulled an envelope which contained a question for another friend, pictured on the paper. It was fantastic to learn things like:
Mollie has a law degree
Erika has a MASTERS in Geology from UCLA
Adrienne loves goat cheese
Marcy and Tom got married in the South of France
Jenny wants to go back to India
...and we are all going to go out and buy Sebastian Laminates shampoo to try to get our hair to look like Tee's
I feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by so many brilliant women. Last night was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday; tomorrow I will be 34.
