We are all terminal

Sounds a little morose, but it is my mindset. Life is so precious and so short and we will all be gone someday. Someday all-too-soon for many of us.

There is nothing in the world as scrumptious as a freshly bathed baby (unless you smell and snuggle a freshly BORN baby, then you've got me beat, and speaking of...I'm so proud of my friends Carla, Lisa and Deb who all just had baby boys)

Evelyn and I just got out of the tub. Her sprigs of hair look like a downy chick just drying off. Her pouty lips are moving ever-so-slightly in a sucking motion. Her body is warm and moist, chubby and white. She is completely relaxed across my lap. I don't want it to end. Ever.

Went to a luncheon today benefitting the new Baylor Breast Center. It is inspirational to hear how great the strides are that are being made here in Houston, in our medical community. There was a lot of talk of ending this cancer within our lifetime. Mapping the human genome. Personalized treatments, not victims but survivors, etc. It is very good to hear. Today is October 1, the start of breast cancer awareness month. Friends, do your self-exam in the shower next time you are getting clean.

Serious stuff, Steph. But I agree. I often remind myself that this is a journey, and one day it will end. I do think our spirits go on though...
Glad you are savoring these precious moments.

I am sooo grateful that you are living in the moment and trying not to miss anything with your children....life is precious like you said and very very fast. You will look back one day at your description of Evie on your lap and physically yearn for it back. I swear I could smell her babiness from your fantastic description...it is pure heaven on Earth.
I second the awareness of Cancer research stides. God Bless all of the people who are working so hard to find a cure for Cancer....
