Back in ACK

ACK is the airport code for Nantucket. We are thrilled to be back in ACK. Back home in Houston, the high temps have climbed above 100 and now there is a serious storm hitting the already soaked Texas Coast. Yep, it's definitely good to be up on a little island off the coast of Massachusetts (how often do you spell that one? Hope I got it right) where the highs are in the low 70s and the evenings are crisp and cool.

From our porch we only have to take ten steps to be on the dock of Nantucket Harbor. It is a fun view no matter what time of day: ferry boats unloading the day's supplies of fuel, food and building materials, sailboats with sails of every hue, fishing outfitters with eager novices aboard and untold numbers of massive yachts.

We love the simple fun here. Digging a moat around our sandcastle, watching a puppet show and dancing, appropriately with reckless abandon, to the song "Dance to the Music" as in the image of Paige above, shopping around town, picnic lunches, cool dips in the water, bubble baths in the afternoon to rinse off the sand before...ah...naps. The sushi chef at our fav restaurant from last year even remembered Paige and Graham and knew what they liked, too.

Evelyn is 10 weeks old today. She has adapted to life here, which means spending most of the day outdoors strapped to me in a Baby Bjorn carrier. I am not a huge fan of demonstrative breastfeeding in public, but I am trying to be as discreet as possible without relegating us to the room for every feeding. Tonight we will audition our first non-family-member babysitters. I don't have too much apprehension, but I'd be lying if I said I was relaxed about it. If it goes poorly, we'll just come back to the hotel. Wish us luck!

I have quickly slapped a few pics up here. Of course, I could post hundreds if I had the time, but ohh everyone is napping but me.
