Lately I have been feeling a bit lost, call it even ignorant, when it comes to world events, particularly in the Middle East. Here is a series I've been listening to on NPR that gives good historical landscape to the current Sunni-Shia conflict.

ooh, yes! I read AND listened to that first article on Monday, and almost posted a link on my blog, it is so good. I have been struggling to keep the Shia and Sunni separate in my head, given the little tidbits in most news articles, but this clarified everything for me. Why has it taken so many years for anyone to explain these basics to us? I guess even the political and military leaders have been in the dark until recently, according to accounts, and that's why its gotten so bad.
