Halloween was so much fun with twin 3 1/2 yr-olds. Wow, they were into it! The day started with fun in the driveway with our carpool buddies -- all dressed in our Halloween costumes for the parade at school. We played in the bamboo with William and Nelson and their mommy, my friend Lisa. Then after school, a big nap was in order, but who could sleep with visions of "Trick or Treat"ing in their heads? Only Paige could it turns out, but Graham played quietly laying down. He didn't dare holler. He was planning on a big night and knew that meant staying out of trouble.
Our block has a giant party the afternoon of Halloween every year with
bouncies and a rock climbing wall. We have hotdogs and balloons and over 300 people! It was great fun to see my kids being extremely independent. The 
threatening rainclouds stayed away this year, too. Soon, though, the skies turned dark and it was time to get down to business. 
We regrouped at the house briefly (read:champagne and wine for our friends) then headed out into the night (6:15 and it was dark!) Paige insisted that her very first house be Mrs. Lane's. After about 4 houses, she turned to me and said, "This is fun, Mommy; we're going to go to EVERY house."
At something substantially less than every house, our pumpkin bags were filling up. After a special outing to the Hacketts' to see Mosey and her tutu-wearing dog and Jeanie Kilroys amazing house with a ghosty disco ball and a creepy animated butler, we headed home.
Back at the house, we entertained Susan, Melissa, Katie, Nick, Bob and then Marcy and Tom came by with Paige and Graham's summer carpool buddy Henry. Oh how they adore Henry. We let them stay up late and study their haul. When Henry left, I said it was time for bed. The kids relented, exhausted by all the partying, and we headed upstairs. Quickie showers ensued, then Paige was brushing her teeth and said, "We probably need to do Dr. Seusses (that's the theme of their dental floss) tonight to get all the sticky candy out, Mommy." So true, my smarty. Graham asked, "Mom, can we go trick-or-treating again tomorrow?"

Yeah, it was fun. Paige stood in line and did it over and over again. Notice she is wearing flip flops? Good thing the penguin costume strapped them to her feet.
I almost commented on Graham's stain in my post: I was so proud of how white he was by the end of the evening. Just that little tiny smear was pretty amazing given he'd eaten a very red juicy snowcone, a hotdog with ketchup and several chocolate candies! He is BIG on napkins these days.

How smart of Paige to think of stickie teeth and Graham sure looks ferocious with those teeth. Mom commented that the tiger costume looks PERFECT with his hair color. ;)
