We've had so many experiences about which I'm wanting to blog, but I'm still construction manager and days have been hectic. I am working on whittling down the photo montage for Spring Break (it was epic, but I'm sure you aren't interested in 30 minutes of streaming images, fun french music or no), so, in the meantime, how about a realtime update on our day TODAY!!?!?!?!
Today was one for the memory books. Three times a week our gang practices horseback riding. And today, all three of our children participated in their first EVER horse show: Spotlight. The morning began cool and crisp and then the warm sun shone all day. Big Bear mountain was gleaming on the horizon, and Temecula was spectacular. First up: Graham competed in his first class of Western Pleasure. He dazzled us with his ease of motion and his ability to perform all the tasks the caller asked. Since he was the sole entrant, he received the one and only blue ribbon. Yeah! That was fun.

Next up: Paige competed against three other riders in Saddle Seat walk and trot. She entered the arena poised and cool. Back straight as a rod, hands up and pretty, little blue eyes intent on the prize. Okay, I'd adjusted their expectations by saying "If you just don't fall off it'll be a great day. Doesn't matter what place you get. Just do your best." She executed all the moves flawlessly. She lined up. They announced the winner of the class. "Number 13, Paige Walker!" WOW! Al was choked up, tears in my eyes. Our baby had WON her first EVER competition.

They each competed again in the day (Paige twice more, Graham once) and brought home more ribbons. Around midday, I whipped up a little guacamole others brought pot luck, and after lunch, we got the little Bean ready to ride. She sat up tall in her seat for her Lead Line class. She did great. All the participants received a blue ribbon.

We stopped at In-N-Out burger to celebrate, then came home and had a relaxing swim/lounge. Ahhh, life is GOOD! What a fun day, and this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. . . with horses.

Wow! Way to go, P, G & E! I'm so proud of you all.
Wow! 8 year old me is so jealous. 40 year old me is, too! Evie looks like a blond National Velvet with her locks tucked away.
thank you, sisters. Jenn, I thought it was funny I caught her horse (a Morgan) in a blink! And, yes, with her mascara on, she did look a little Velvet Brown, er, Blonde.
Every picture is beautiful..each child so perfectly at ease on their mount..you are very fortunate,Stephanie and Al with your kiddies and I know that you both work hard to see that they taste a little of everything in their lives..GREAT! :)
