bleak midwinter, eh groundhog?

Random thoughts today, from scatterbrained me...

Despite the near freezing temps again today, I killed a giant mosquito in my bathroom last night and watched another bouncing off the kitchen window this morning. So much for people's assertions that they die off in the winter!

I wonder why we aren't talking about Haiti anymore. The people are still living in shantytowns and dying due to lack of supplies/antibiotics despite efforts to give aid. How do we help in a way that is lasting and consistent rather than knee-jerk and move on?

I am typing on our new MacBook Pro. My thumb is a little jealous of the other fingers as it has suffered a job cutback, relegated to the spacebar, no more clicking. Poor thumb. (left thumb gets hardly any work at all and is considering filing for unemployment)

I wonder if housekeepers in my neighborhood have a sort of signal, like Hobo signs of days gone by, that indicate what kind of family lives in each house.

I love my dog.

Evelyn lights up every room every place she goes. Everyone says, "there once was a girl..." but she's never horrid (just a little stubborn right at naptime these days)

Paige is so long and lean and boney. She just had a stomach bug that roto-rootered her guts. Poor baby. But I got to sleep next to her and admire her sanguine lips against her pale, delicate face as she came quickly back to normal.

Graham allowed Evelyn to sit on his lap at his desk yesterday at school as they did their last drill of the day (something with consonant sound bugs, an interactive SMART board exercise) It was so sweet and lovely I cried. I did not take pictures, but it will be etched in my memory forever.

Al and I went to see Wonderland at the Alley last night with Marcy and Tom. It was great! Al loved it. Wants to take the kids to see the first half, but the Jabberwock in the second half would be too much, we think...

Ah, new picture! Looking forward to spring?

Glad Paige is feeling better. Yuk.

Ev and Graham sound so sweet! Wish I could have seen it too.
