A light zephyr of wind and crystal clear waters kept us at the beach all afternoon today. The sun toasted the sand, Evelyn and Paige wore their ballerina swimsuits, Graham was mesmerized by a Hobie Cat with a rainbow sail. Upon further inquiry, we found out we could spend an hour on the "trampoline" of the light craft. At 5 p.m. While Ev and I waved from shore, they took off with a nice young man named Tom. See, Al, despite our scepticism they did need those life jackets after all! Back and forth from our Beach to the Jetties they sailed. Paige and Graham even learned how to maneuver the jib for the turns. I know because a sweet fellow mommy encouraged me to go with them for the last lap while Ev sat and played with a boy her age. The catamaran skimmed the water so smoothly as I lay flat to avoid the sail while Paige and Graham were bopping around showing me the ropes (literally and figuratively).
Little innocent clear jellies filled the still waters today. Evelyn ate sand. Gwynn and Lauren went into town one last time, and back in the room, while all three children stood in the sweet water rinsing off salt and sand, I prepared left over noodles with red sauce that all three children devoured.
Everyone is tucked in. Exhausted. Happy.
